Truth

Here's the Wonder Woman pinup I did for the WW Charity colored in Photoshop. I decided to take the pencils and scan them before I did the marker rendering in the previous post.
I'm going to make a banner out of this for conventions. I put stars on it in the bg. I thought it would be a good pic to use for the vertical banner because it is so vertical.
Enjoy!

Blast from the Past-Savant at Gammora

I was looking through some old art and found some stuff that I'm gonna post. This is a pinup I did at Wildstorm for the Swimsuit issue. Savant at Gammorra, which was pretty much a duplicate of a castle in Japan, which I visited a couple years previous, so I used photos that I took.It was inked by inker-extrodinaire Gary Martin. Enjoy!

Cutie pie

I did this the other night when my gf was writing a card for my cousin's baby shower using Prismacolor pencils and Micron pens.
Good thing she was in the same position long enough for me to capture this image! haha

Photos from SDCC 09!

I had a blast at San Diego Comic Con! Besides a few lingering achy joints...lol

Here's a couple of shots of stuff I worked on at the illustration studio I was working at for the past year. I did the sketch for these, which mimicked my good buddy, Sean "Cheeks" Galloway. I think he even helped me rough out the Venom pose a little.

I'll post more pics in a day or two of one of my inspirations and heroes that I got to see a rare appearance of. Also maybe some pics of Olivia Munn from G4!

Who is she?

Here's the first look at one of the characters from my graphic novel, Shadowzone. Her name is Kandora. I've been trying to develop the story for years, but until recently has the story really start to come together for me.

Let me know what your first impression of her is. I'm not necessarily giving any kind of hint to go on, I know. I'd just be curious what the first impression gives based on what's given.

Thanks!

Ryan

Batman sketch

I've always found Batman to be somewhat intimidating to draw. He's so iconic, although so simple.

Here's an attempt. There's things I like and don't like about it, but I think it's better to just do it and then progress from there. You can't get anywhere unless you take the first step!

My Kuta card for Sean "Cheeks" Galloway's Bastion's 7 Vinyl.

Here's my first post of my Kuta card for Cheek's Kuta Vinyl toy, going on sale at Comic-con.

It'll be among many other talented artists including, Humberto Ramos, Francisco Herrera, Chamba, and many more!

Cheeks was kind enough to look out for his artist friends to create these postcard sized cards and put them in randomly with his new vinyl coming out.

I know you've probably already seen his stuff, but if you haven't go here now! http://cheeks-74.deviantart.com/

He and I go way back, before anyone knew him and what he can do. His will and determination got him to where he is, now I'm running, trying to catch up!

Thanks Cheeks!

Sport One- Happy 4th!

Meg/Rock One's brother- Sport One!
Bare with me, I'm new to this blogging thing, but I'm gonna work on getting some tutorials going and more valuable info, from my perspective going here.
In the meantime, have a great 4th!

IQ

Here's JD/IQ. He was the brainy/nerdy one. I think his main powers were super-strength.

Mother One

Here's the mother of them all....

The pose was taken from a freeze frame of one of the cartoons. I kinda like the ESP effect. It worked better for me than I thought.

Rock One

Here's Meg/Rock One from my Bionic Six series. She's the cute daughter of the Bennetts. I don't really want to explain the whole story here, but she was one of the two actual children and there were 2 other adopted children, Bunji and JD. I always had a crush on her lol...but really I think she influenced how I drew women to a certain degree, early on. I guess it's the cuteness.

After going through a couple of different color versions, this is the first one I colored of the set with a more painterly style.

I learned from an ex-coworker, David Oh, that paintings generally have more of a focus, while everything around that focus is a little more de-emphasized. Comic colorists (the ones that don't understand this) a lot of times just light up every part of the body, with no real focus. I realized that was what I was doing before.

So for these, I tried to put a little more focus towards the faces and actually did a gradation to darken the lower half of the body.

Two issues I noticed coloring these characters...

1. I decided to leave the linework, so it's not a "real" painting, so it's kind of a hybrid.

2. These character's costumes were colored flat in the actual cartoon, plus they have super colorful costumes, so it was a challenge to de-emphasize things when everything is RED, YELLOW or BLUE. I know there's ways of doing it, but I decided to keep a slight mixture of the original cel coloring with a painterly feel.

Enjoy!

Welcome to my first post!

I'm a huge fan of the 80's cartoon series Bionic Six. One of my favorite characters was Bunji/Karate One. Mainly because he was Japanese and I can relate because I am Japanese myself.

It was also pre-anime as it is today. Many probably don't know, but the god-father of Anime, Osamu Tesuka was one of the supervisors and also Alex Toth did some design work on the show.
